Central New York can get cold in the winter months, and you can help children stay warm.

'Once Upon a Child,' a store with gently used items in DeWitt, is hosting a coat drive all week. They teamed up with 'Rise Against Poverty' to get the coats to children who need them.

They are accepting used and new coats that will be distributed to students in the Syracuse City School District. Before this drive, they didn't know how many kids needed a coat.

"I didn't know that that could happen,” said store manager Courtney Tousaw. “And then I came in and gave coats too, all my staff came in and gave coats, owners gave in coats, we brought clothes for the kids put them in the bin, it makes me feel horrible that kids can't go to school warm."

If you are interested in donating a coat, the last day to do so is this Friday.
