Syracuse taxpayers are on the hook for $1.5 million because a police brutality case.
57-year-old Alonzo Grant says he was beaten in July of 2014. A jury found that some Syracuse Police officers falsely arrested Grant and used excessive force.
The $1.5 million judgment will be split between Grant and his wife.
A statement from City Hall says the administration is disappointed by the decision because they believe officers acted properly in a difficult situation.
City officials plan to review the verdict and consider options for appeal.
