There's some economic growth happening in Madison County with a new facility opening, and with it new jobs.

Dutchland Plastics will be creating more than 40 new jobs at a factory located along the Erie Canal.

The 50,000 square foot location is in Canastota.

The company, which produces gas tanks and fenders, is also located in Sherrill.

The CEO says they are making the investment in the community because they believe in the people who work and live here.

The new jobs will be created over the next few years.

23 employees from the company's Sherrill plant will also be moved to the facility.

The project benefited from $475,000 in tax credits through the Empire State Development's Excelsior Jobs Program and a $1.7 million Restore New York grant.
