The man arrested in connection with the shooting death of a one of those children was arraigned on multiple charges this morning.

22-year-old Alberto Pinet faces second-degree murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon for killing James Springer III on Wednesday.

Police believe the intended target was an acquantance of Springer's father.

Officials hope the arrest sends a message.

"If we act swiftly on all of these cases pretty soon the bad guys are going to get the message that you can't go firing off shots in our neighborhood and if you do then everyone is going to stand up and hold you accountable for it," said Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler.

Pinet is being held without bail. He's scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
