United States Marshals believe the fugitive who ran off following a crash Tuesday is still in the Syracuse area.

The US Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Forces are trying to track down 41-year-old Deshawnte Waller, who they say is armed and dangerous.

Investigators were involved in a high-speed chase with him around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday — that's when a crash happened along East Genesee Street in Syracuse.

The SUV burst into flames after hitting another vehicle.

Fire and police officials were at the scene for more than an hour cleaning the mess up. Marshals searched the area for Waller but were not able to find him.

No one was seriously injured.

Police are still looking for Waller. Detectives say he has a long list of convictions including rape, drug possession, weapons possession, assault, robbery and burglary.

Anyone that may have a tip that could help detectives track him down can call U.S. Marshals at 315-473-7601. They are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to Waller's arrest.
