City leaders are speaking out, demanding change.

"You have a community in shock and we have a lot of people that just can't and are trying to grapple with what just happened in our community," said Co-founder of Mothers against Gun Violence Helen Hudson. “We cannot continue to be silent on these issues when our children are being murdered, shot and killed on a daily basis.”

With two shootings in one night- injuring 6 people total, including children, officials say enough is enough.

"I can’t even begin to imagine what they're going through,” said Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh. “I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that I am there for them."

Officials are urging witnesses to come forward and help the police with the investigation. The goal is to create a better relationship between the Police Department and the community.

"People need to start talking,” said Hudson. “Because someone knows who did all of this.  So we cannot afford to continue to keep these secrets and keep our mouth shut. "

"None of us can do it alone,” said Walsh. “The police department can't do it alone. The neighborhood can't do it alone but if we work together and if we talk and share information we can make a difference. So we are going to attack this problem on every front possible."
