DEWITT, N.Y. -- Tangie Mussell and a family member were the first people back to eat at the Chili's in Dewitt.
Following last weekend's double homicide, the restaurant reopened on Tuesday.
"I mean we feel OK about it, we know what happened," said Munsell.
Two employees, Kristopher Hicks and Stephen Gudknecht, were shot at the establishment Saturday during a robbery. Two other employees survived.
Many of the customers Tuesday said they weren't just coming for lunch, but to show that they stand with the workers.
"I think it will be good for the people working here, you know it’s a scary thing,” said Munsell. “It's traumatic, but it’s good to have support and we want to support."
Pastor Allen Rudnick and his employees also had lunch at the restaurant. His church led the vigil that took place in front Sunday.
"One of the things we wanted to make a commitment to, the restaurant and employees, was the first day that they were open we wanted to be back to support them," said Rudnick. "We knew it was going to be a tough day for them emotionally and if they were going to be open, we wanted to come have lunch here as a staff."
Many people stopped by the memorial to pay their respects before going in to eat their meal.
"Well obviously it’s a very tragic situation, and in times of tragedy is when the community needs to come together," said Rudnick.
Chili's is providing offsite counseling to employees all week.
