State police released more information on the skull found behind a dumpster in Lafayette.

The skull was found in an apartment complex along Route 11 Wednesday afternoon. Troopers say it belonged to a local resident who moved out, leaving the skull behind in the dumpster.

They say it may have been removed by children who were seen playing near the dumpster. The skull was taken to the Medical examiner’s office to find out if the skull is realand if it is, if it belongs to an animal or human.

In the meantime, State police are still investigating.
