SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The city of Syracuse is making it easier for you to license your four-legged friends.

"Docupet" is an online municipal pet licensing program, allowing you to register and renew pet licenses.

Mayor Ben Walsh says using this technology will save residents time and give them a convenient option.

The city estimates that less than 15 percent of dogs are licensed and say it's required for all dog owners living in the city.

If your dog runs away, having that proper identification could also end up saving your lost pet from being put into a shelter.

It will cost $10 for spayed or neutered dogs and $20 for dogs that have not been.
