The village of Minoa turns teal for National Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.

Members of Hope for Heather gathered Friday to paint a teal stripe down Main Street. Frieda Weeks, the President of Hope for Heather, created the organization after her daughter died of colon cancer nearly ten years ago.

The group's mission is to educate the public, raise awareness, support local patients, and help fund research. The stripe is a symbol not only to honor Heather but also to support the thousands of women battling the disease.

"She worked for the ovarian cancer research fund so we decided if it was important enough for her to make it her career we would make that our life's work,” said Weeks. “So this is 10 years of keeping her dream alive."

Hope for Heather will host its 10th Annual Teal Ribbon Run/Walk in Minoa on the 22nd.
