Each week during ‘Friday Night Matchup, Spectrum News will celebrate some of the top student-athletes that Central New York has to offer. Sydney Stamboly sets a great example for her teammates at Rome Free Academy.

Stamboly is such a versatile athlete that she has been a part of five different sports during her high school career.  She’s participated in Gymnastics, Tennis, Volleyball, Indoor Track and Field, as well as Lacrosse. But it’s on that lacrosse field where she has truly been a standout.

She has been Mohawk Valley All Star, Rome Sports Hall of Fame All Star, and a league leader in assists and goals.

The field isn’t the only place where Stamboly excels.  With all of her extracurricular activities, she still maintains a 92 GPA. She is a member of the Senior Honor Society.

Stamboly will receive a $1,000 scholarship, going to the college of her choice.
