One congressional candidate says a court case in Texas, could have a devastating impact on health care in Central New York.

Dana Balter focused on the issue during a news conference Wednesday at Forman Park in Syracuse.

Balter says the GOP tax plan her opponent voted for, opened a window to take down parts of the affordable care act.

One of her biggest concerns is people with pre-existing conditions. She says the impact may be more widespread than people realize.

"Almost everybody you know has a preexisting condition,” said Balter. We’re talking about things like acne; you can be charged more by your insurer if you have acne than if you don't if we lose this coverage. We're talking about people who have asthma. Think of all the children who have asthma."

Balter is running against republican incumbent John Katko.
