The opportunity was too good to pass up. A beautiful, brand new apartment in a desirable location near Syracuse University.

"The location right behind Marshall Street was so ideal for classes on campus, but also being off campus for things it was almost that perfect location," said Connor Dennewitz, a junior at SU.

But those weren't the only attributes that enticed dozens of students to live at The Marshall.

"I actually picked the Marshall over living in some of the other situations because they reassured me that they would be open by the due date," said senior, Chris Venzon.

So when students received an email this summer, saying the building would not be ready by the start of the fall semester, they were shocked.

The affected students have been placed in temporary housing. Some are living at University Village, others are staying in nearby hotels.

"I'm staying in the Crown Plaza, nice digs, I can't be upset. But it's definitely not where I was expecting," said Venzon.

According to the email students received, management says the delays were a result of the harsh winter and scheduling conflicts with utility companies.

While students are being told construction will only take a few more weeks, they have their doubts.

"The looks of it, doesn't seem like mid-September and it's kind of hard to kind of wrap my head around when it's going to be done," said Dennewitz.

Despite it all, students say the staff at The Marshall has been more than accommodating, making up for the otherwise frustrating circumstances.

The Marshall took over the space that was once occupied by Chuck's, a popular bar among students.
