A Watertown landmark was rededicated Friday.

The Lachenauer Plaza was originally dedicated to William Lachenauer, who served as Watertown mayor from 1956 to 1963.

On Friday, the names of four more family members were put on another plaque. That includes Watertown Fire Battalion Chief, David Lachenauer, who died in March from cancer, diagnosed after his work at ground zero.

Shortly after his funeral, relatives asked the city to consider rededicating the plaza.

Watertown's mayor agreed.

“The Lachenauer's have served the city for over 100 years collectively,” said Watertown Mayor Joseph Butler. “So we just think it's a tribute and the right thing to do to recognize a great family in the city of Watertown and their contributions not only to enrich our community but to protect and serve our community."

The Lachenauer plaza is right in the center of public square on Arsenal and Court streets.
