GEDDES, N.Y. -- It's the first Friday of the Great New York State Fair, and that means it is Pride Day.

New York's state fair is the only one in the country to hold an official celebration of the LGBTQ community.

Pride Day kicked off with a flag raising ceremony at 9:30 a.m. outside the main gate.

A public celebration took place at 4 p.m. with Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul at the Empire Theater of the Art and Home Center.

Friday was also the first day of the Latino Village exhibit, with events taking place at the Experience Stage throughout the day.

Also, for all the animal lovers out there –- the horse barn is a great spot to check out.

Each day you can visit with horses in the barn, but you can also watch them strut their stuff right here. And the shows are free.
