It’s almost time for the New York State Fair, and there are some new features in store.

Perhaps the biggest change is the Exposition Center. There will be free ice skating for visitors and the ‘I Love NY’ demonstrations will be expanded to this area. It’s large enough for the entire White House to fit inside without a scratch.

There’s also two new days to celebrate the state’s agricultural heritage: Maple Day and Grape Day.

Also, the western end of the fairgrounds was also expanded.

This year, there’s a free observation center ride that will give you a bird’s-eye view of the fair.

Organizers say the goal of the new changes is to get people excited about the fair and keep them coming back.

"People used to say the fair doesn’t change from year to year, so why go. Nobody can say that anymore. We are throwing more free things in for the fair-goer to do once they get through the gate. The idea is to change it every day to give people a reason to come, and more importantly, come more than once," said Troy Waffner, acting fair director.

The fair has also extended its partnership with Chevrolet, rebranding the fair’s two main music stages into one big festival with more than 75 performances.

The first day of the fair begins this Wednesday.
