UTICA, N.Y. -- There was a little friendly competition between countries this weekend.

A total of 16 teams from around the globe played in Utica's International Soccer Tournament, the 7th annual Redeemer Cup. Players represented Russia, Sudan, Ghana, and Burma to name a few.

Utica is home to more than 40 different nationalities. Organizers say this event was created to unite them.

"This idea is to bring the community together, not just the international people, but the American born citizens to come and meet the new neighbors. That is the whole purpose of it. Soccer is part of it, and they play to win, but it's to bring the community together," said organizer Paul Schilling.

Kenya was this year's winning team.
