ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- It's construction with Mohawk Valley commuters in mind.

A main bridge in New Hartford will have major repairs completed in just four days.

Crews will be working day and night through Tuesday morning on the Route 8 bridge over Genesee Street.

$2.8 million will be used to put in a precast concrete bridge deck system.

The Department of Transportation's Chief Engineer said the bridge has already outlived its predicted lifespan. He's giving his own crew credit.

"This is a testament to them that this is a bridge in the 60's and it's over 50 years old, and it will go on for, when we put in a new deck, we expect 25, 30 more years out of it," said New York State Department of Transportation Chief Engineer Wahid Albert.

Normal traffic should pick back up Tuesday at 6:00 a.m. Until then, keep an eye out for detours.
