ROME, N.Y. -- New York State Department of Transportation workers say the Griffiss Veterans Memorial Parkway is complete.

The $21.9 million project in Rome is a four-lane Parkway, 2.6 miles long, connecting different parts of Rome.

The project also includes more sidewalks, a new paved trail, and two new roundabouts.

"This project really is several years in the making, not just the two years that we were under construction. It took the help of many agencies to make sure that this came out on time and on-budget, and just was a major boom for the Rome community," said New York State Department of Transportation Assistant Commissioner of Operations Sean Hennessey.

The project is done three months ahead of schedule.
