A new application looks to tackle underage drinking by spotting fake IDs.

The DMV has launched a pilot program called ‘LAW ID.’ The app lets law enforcement scan licenses with their smart phones. Seconds later, it will come up with driving records from all 50 states linked to that license. It will also determine if it's real or fake.

The technology was developed by Intellicheck, based out of Long Island.

“I think it's actually providing a good service. The first concert that they went to they found 30 fake IDs already. We have one of the concert promoters that uses our product and they — one of the concerts in New York, a weekend concert — they confiscated over 2500 fake IDs,” said Bryan Lewis, Intellicheck CEO.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says that New York is the first state to launch a program of this kind.
