Health experts are weighing in with tips to stay safe in the extreme heat -- especially those that most people forget.

  • Drink water regularly, even if you're not thirsty.
  • Take cool showers or baths to cool down.
  • Avoid too much sun, and use a sunscreen lotion with a high SPF rating.
  • Make sure you check on your friends and neighbors, and have someone do the same for you.
  • Never leave children, someone with a disability or pets in cars.
