UTICA, N.Y. -- A new $2 million project at T.R. Proctor Park in Utica includes a synthetic turf field and recreational facility.

It also includes a scoreboard, field lighting, bleachers and fencing.

The "Sal Longo Field" is named after one of the donors who said he wanted to give back to Utica.

"There's a lot of underprivileged kids that don't always have sometimes the best facilities to work out of and play out of and I thought it would be something to give them a great opportunity to play on a top notch field," Northern Safety Founder and CEO Sal Longo said.

Longo expects to break ground in October and complete the project by spring.
