The victim of a drowning in Hinckley Lake has been identified.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says, 34-year-old Michael Litz of Oriskany, was on a day trip, when he entered the water in a channel on the East side of the island facing the Trails End Campground Herkimer County.

A relatively short distance from shore, Litz encountered unknown distress and struggled to swim.

After being pulled from the water, CPR was performed on Litz before he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

This is the third drowning that's happened across the region over the weekend.

A man was pulled from the Oswego River Saturday morning and later died. His name still hasn't been released.

A 29-year-old also drowned in a swimming pool in the town of Camden Saturday afternoon. He's been identified as Andrew Renwick.

Both of those incidents are also under investigation.
