We're counting down the days until the 2018 Great New York State Fair.

While many of our old favorites will be back, there will also be some improvements.

This year some of the biggest changes will be the orange parking lot. Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner says the pavement is done and crews are almost finished with that to alleviate some of the parking problems.

Also coming this year is the Expo Center which will have an ice rink. There'll be some new activities like Goat Yoga.

He says next on the list beginning in 2019 is work on the old racing stables and other areas.

“We've addressed the parking in the orange lot, which is huge. We've addressed a fantastic new building for us which is a bonus for the fair, but it's really meant for the non-fair. Where else could we need some work on the Fairgrounds? The 4-H stables which are down on the western end of the fairgrounds,” he said.

The first day of the Fair is August 22nd.
