The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Central New York Monday, but what about those that had to work in it?

One way to beat the extreme heat: staying indoors. But, that's not an option for those who have to work outside.

People in construction, roofing, vendors and postal workers all have to bear the heat and humidity to earn a living.

But they say they all have their own ways of handling the heat.

"I was surprised anybody even showed up for work. But some guys showed up and I put them on a project where we can spend some of the day outside but most of the day inside,” said Paul Mandelis, G & J Home Remodeling owner.

If you have to be outside, the Weather Service advises you to take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water.
