Hot and humid seems to be the usual lately across Central New York. So, it's important for residents to stay safe when in the sun.

Families were out at Onondaga Lake Park Sunday, walking, bicycling and playing on the playground.

The CDC says the sun’s ultraviolet rays can damage your skin in as few as 15 minutes, so really in no time at all.

To protect yourself, they recommend going in the shade often if possible, wearing hats and sunglasses, and putting on that suncreen.

The CDC also recommends reapplying your sunscreen every two hours, or after swimming, sweating or toweling off.
