One local congressman is hoping to win a national brewing competition.

Anheuser-Busch is holding its Brew Across America Challenge.

11 representatives will be designing their own recipes at factories from coast to coast.

That includes Central New York's John Katko.

He stopped by the Baldwinsville plant Friday to start the brewing process.

Katko talked about his creation.

"Salt City Swing, it's going to be a blend of pale ale and a lager, and the swing is a swing district, and it's a truly bipartisan beer,” said Katko. “That's what I am bipartisan so that's why we brewed it this way."

His beer will be entered into the Brew Across America festival, which will be held in Washington on September 5th.
