Saturday was a day of celebrating and experiencing many different cultures from around the world.

At the first annual World Refugee Day Celebration over 13 different cultures were represented--from Vietnam and China to Somalia and Sudan. The event was hosted by New Americans Forum.

Vendors, live cultural performances and a world soccer tournament including 13 different countries were some of the activities available.

The goal was to celebrate the diversity in Syracuse.

"Why not open it up and bring all cultures together? And that's like my theme, Come as strangers leave as friends. Because they don't do it , so this is the day we celebrate with everyone, that's why we're refugees," said Event Organizer Tai Shaw.
