SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse police are investigating an overnight shooting that has left one man in critical condition.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Markland Avenue just after 12:30 Thursday morning.

That's where they found a 24-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Police say there is no suspect information at the time, but believe the victim was targeted.

"Multiple evidence at the scene, multiple shell casings, so this individual was clearly being hunted by someone,” said Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick. “This was not some random driveby shooting."

Stolp Avenue was closed between Markland Avenue and Hancock Drive as police continued investigating.
