A symbol of the City of Oswego is getting some much needed work.

The Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse is one of the first things boats see when they come into the Port City.

The city is giving $75,000 in funding to paint the outside of the lighthouse.

Bids for the project are expected to go out next week.

The H. Lee White Marine Museum is also working on some interior renovations.

Although the lighthouse was placed on the national register in 2000, a plaque dedication was held Thursday.
