Thousands came out to visit Fort Drum on Wednesday for the annual Mountainfest. The event featured carnival style games, rock climbing and ATV racing.

There was also a "Salute to the Nation" ceremony, followed by the annual "Salute to the Troops" Concert. This year, David Lee Murphy and Chris Janson rocked the stage. The event concluded with fireworks.

Organizers say the event is not only about having fun, but also honoring our soldiers.

"It's a way to demonstrate to our soldiers that they are important to us every day,” said Director of Family Morale Welfare and Recreation Sharon Addison. “It's a way for the community to honor them and walk side by side on these parade grounds."

Many of those who visited Mountainfest say they're already looking forward to next year.
