Utica is home to thousands of people who've sought refuge in America. On Saturday, they were celebrated in honor of World Refugee Day.

Organizers say they hope this event reveals the love refugees have for America and how much they're appreciated in return.

"If you haven't come to one of these celebrations, come. It's a great time, you're going to meet new people, hear new languages, taste great food. It really is just the warmest place in Utica right now," said Shelly Callahan, Executive Director of the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees.

As part of the celebration, a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Naturalization ceremony was held. 19 community members became American citizens.
