SYRACUSE, N.Y. --If you'd like to visit Nashville, Tennessee you can now catch a direct flight from Syracuse.

Allegiant is now offering non-stop flights from Hancock International Airport to Nashville International three times a week.

Passengers on the first flight were greeted with giveaways and prizes Thursday.

The airlines also recently began offering flights from Syracuse to Myrtle Beach and three destinations in Florida, including Orlando.

The new options and ongoing $60 million airport construction project will eventually make the airport more appealing than ever.

"It sends the message that we have a great airport in our community. We serve a large section of Central New York. We have great service, and we're going to continue to build on that," said Syracuse Airport Executive Director Christina Callahan.

In addition to Allegiant options, Frontier Airlines will begin offering flights from Syracuse to Denver, Raleigh, Chicago, and Orlando later this summer.

Construction at Hancock is expected to be complete in October.
