Multiple fire departments worked together to contain a fire at Syracuse Haulers in DeWitt.

The call came in at around 11:30 Wednesday morning.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy, black smoke coming from inside the waste removal company.

Investigators determined that recycled plastics and cardboard caused the fire.

They also say warm, humid weather conditions made it more difficult to get the flames under control, forced them to start inside.

"Everybody was on breathing air and everything and once we got that pretty well knocked down we had the employee with a pay loader start removing the product from the building outside to spread it out so we could extinguish the rest,” said East Syracuse Fire Chief James Brewster.

No injuries were reported. Investigators are still looking into what sparked the fire.
