A six-figure settlement is on the table in a class action lawsuit against the former James Square Nursing facility in Syracuse.

Current and former residents filed the suit over concerns about living conditions and safety at the facility, dating back six years.

According to court paperwork, the two sides reached a $500,000 settlement which will need to be approved in court Wednesday.

James Square was sold to new ownership last year and renamed Bishop Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

But a judge determined that the new owners could be included in this class action suit.

That new administration is now agreeing to make changes, in addition to the financial settlement.

Among other steps, they say 250 new employees have been hired, and they are meeting service quality benchmarks.

However they do not have to admit any wrong-doing under the terms of the settlement.
