UTICA, N.Y. -- About 40-volunteers took advantage of the sunny day on Friday to clean up F. T. Proctor Park in Utica.

The weather is exactly why the clean-up didn't happen sooner.

It was supposed to take place on "I Love My Park Day" last month, but was rescheduled due to weather concerns.

It's part of the Central New York Conservancy's "Clean Up Your Park Day".

Members appreciate the history and beauty of Utica's parks and hope others do too.

"When Thomas R. Proctor and his wife, Maria, came back from their honeymoon, the reporters approached him and said, 'What did you like?', and he said, 'I'll be honest with you, the green spaces. There's tons of parks. There's people. There's families. They're enjoying life.' And that's what we want to happen here at F.T. Proctor Park," said Central New York Conservancy Executive Director Peter Falzarine.

If you would like to help, the Central New York Conservancy needs more volunteers to help maintain the parks. For more information visit,uticaolmstedparks.org.
