It's been seven-years since Oneida County Deputy Kurt Wyman was killed in the line of duty. Melissa Krull tells us how those who knew him are making sure the deputy's memory lives on.

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Oneida County is again paying tribute to Deputy Kurt Wyman, who was killed in the line of duty seven years ago while responding to a domestic dispute.

People gathered for a remembrance ceremony in Oriskany, in front of the Law Enforcement Building that bears his name.

Senator Joseph Griffo brought some good news to the ceremony: He said $200,000 has been secured to help build the Kurt B. Wyman Memorial Park in Whitesboro, which was special news for Wyman's father.

"Kurt was big with kids, big on family, big with sports. Soccer was his sport. It's gonna be a lot of fun seeing that done, seeing it get used all the time," said Wyman's father Brian.

Those behind the project hope many of the upgrades will be done by the end of the year.

The Deputy Kurt B. Wyman Memorial Park is located at 5230 Judd Road in Oriskany. Information on donating to the project can be found here.
