GEDDES, N.Y. -- The summer concert season in Syracuse got off to a shaky start Tuesday night, but not because of the performance onstage.

Dave Matthews Band played before a packed house at the St. Joseph's Lakeview Amphitheater. It was the band's second performance at the venue in three years. But this time around, the date was almost ruined by the chaos leading up to the concert.

Many people missed the start of the concert because of ridiculously long lines for shuttles.

The pedestrian bridge at the fairgrounds was closed for construction, so there was no way to walk to the amphitheater from the brown or pink lots.

Some made the dangerous decision to walk across I-690, but for those who played it safe, it was a frustratingly long wait.

"I'd say I saw 2/3 of the show, but I wanted to see 100 percent of the show, that's why I bought the ticket,” said Dave Tauro, who parked in the brown lot.

After concert-goers turned to social media to voice their frustration, the amphitheater issued this response:

Not everyone had a bad experience though, those who arrived ahead of time took advantage of part of the newly paved Orange lot.

Some said they were excited about the upgrade especially when it comes to tailgating.

"It's all about having fun. It's about the atmosphere. You can show up for the concert, but in all reality, you want to come out here, see other people who are embracing in the fun," said Elliott Bruton Jr., a Dave Matthews Band fan.

When the lot is complete, there will be 7,500 parking spots. But for now, there is only limited parking up there. That's expected to happen by the start of the State Fair in August.
