The suspect in a recent 24-hour Cortland standoff died Sunday, according to Cortland Police.

A press release updated Tuesday indicated that 28-year-old Corey Hobart, found suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the bathtub of a Hampton Inn around 3 a.m. Saturday morning, died Sunday afternoon at Upstate Medical Center. An autopsy indicated the cause of death was the gunshot wound.

The shooting came a day after Hobart ran from a police stop in Johnson City and barricaded himself inside the hotel with a woman and a handgun. Police got the woman out and continued to negotiate with Hobart until they forced their way into the room.
