The decreasing price of milk is making it extremely difficult for dairy farmers to stay in business and they're asking for help.

On Wednesday, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente invited area dairy farmers to participate in a forum to discuss the issues they face.

Nearly 20 farmers attended the forum. A variety of topics were discussed including the price of milk, inexperienced workers and taxes.

Picente admits there isn't much he can do on a county level, but says their concerns won't fall on deaf ears.

"Go to Albany, go to Washington and I'm willing to do that and I want to do that and make the case for what is needed to sustain an industry that in New York has been supplying dairy and products for hundreds of years," said Picente.

Farmers brainstormed ideas during the forum, of things that can be done locally to help their bleak financial situation. One of those suggestions, was bringing an additional processing facility to Oneida County.
