A week after the election, the results are finally in for the Utica City School Board.

Six hopefuls vied for three seats. Candidates Anthony LaPolla, Joseph Hobika Junior and Donald Dawes won the race.

These results come after the district's board of education clerk conducted a second recount Tuesday.

The district was ordered by a Supreme Court judge to push the deadline back for absentee ballots, since a reprint caused the ballots to be sent out a week a half late.

Candidates say those ballots made a difference.

"It still ended up very, very close,” said Utica City School Board Member Donald Dawes. “Everybody ran a very good race, they were all good candidates and when all was said and done, you know, there are only a few votes between, well second and fourth place."

The board members will be officially placed in their new roles in July.
