Construction on Interstate 690 in Syracuse will soon take a major step towards completion.

Eastbound lanes will soon close and traffic will be moved to the westbound lanes.

To prepare for the switchover, crews are finishing up pavement work, adding permanent markings and barrier work.

One major difference drivers we'll notice after Memorial Day is that the westbound on and off ramps at Teall Avenue will be open again.

"We're very pleased to be able to get the westbound traffic moved over to the northside and then a couple weeks later, we'll be moving the eastbound traffic to the northside as well so then we can reconstruct the southside. Crane Hogan and the design build team have done a great job, a lot of work over the last several weeks to get this ready," said David Smith, NYSDOT Regional Director.

Construction on the eastbound lanes are expected to be completed by the end of the construction season.
