ROME, N.Y. -- Rome is getting more Community Development Block Grant funding than last year, and officials are planning to put it to good use in the form of projects.

They're getting about $18,000-20,000 more than what was expected through the Community Development Block Grant program.

In total, the city is getting a little more than a million dollars.

Some steps have to take place before that happens and right now it's in the public comment period.

Mayor Jacqueline Izzo plans to put it toward public infrastructure, services, and facility projects in the City, and is grateful.

"We can do maybe a couple of extra projects that we couldn't fit in before with that extra funding or maybe we move our funds around a little bit because we've got that cushion," said Rome Mayor Jacqueline Izzo.

The next public hearing on the grant is taking place Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre.
