Shad Goldthwait, 37, has been serving a 20-year sentence at the Attica Correctional Facility since 2016.

He was charged with rape, course of sexual conduct against a child and sexual abuse for crimes that took place in Oswego County from 2002 to 2009. After his conviction his DNA was swabbed.

It matched with DNA collected following a separate sexual assault in Clay.

Sheriff Gene Conway says he's accused of luring the 10-year-old victim into the woods and assaulting her. And, he's been charged with first degree sodomy.

“This is extremely disturbing to our community that we have sexual predators and I don't mind using that label against him,” Conway said. “In the interview, he may have made some admissions to the crime in 2002.”

Goldthwait is currently being housed at the Onondaga County Justice Center.

The sheriff's office also announced a new sex offender registration and information service on their website called "OffenderWatch." The public can search for offenders in their area and get notifications.
