A quick spreading fire caused extensive damage to a Utica Dollar Tree store.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but police say the suspects are juveniles.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, in the Hannaford Plaza on Mohawk Street.

When fire crews arrived, flames had spread through the store. Employees from neighboring stores say when they noticed the fire, they immediately began to evacuate.

"We went back in to get our stuff and we heard, 'boom.' We were like, oh my God, it was like a movie. We just ran out of the store and we were like let's get out of here and we ran across the street to Dunkin' Donuts for safety," said Kyona Lawrence, the store manager for Rainbow.

"They had mini explosions going off with aeresol cans and various chemicals towards the back of the structure, as far as their cleaning supplies and stuff that they had there," said Deputy Fire Chief Mark Ambrose.

Fire officials say it took more than an hour to get the fire under control.  The fire was contained to the Dollar Tree.

No one was injured.
