MORRISVILLE, N.C. -- The man who prompted a manhunt in Wake County Friday afternoon has been found dead at his parents' home in South Carolina.

  • Shawn Waters was facing charges in Wake County Friday when he fled the courthouse.
  • His ankle bracelet was found in Cary. 
  • He was found dead at his parents' home in SC of an apparent suicide. 

Officials say 48-year-old Shawn Walters was found dead of an apparent suicide around 4:30 p.m.

Earlier in the day Walters faced charges for 14 counts of first degree sexual exploitation of a minor.         

Jury deliberations had begun Thursday when Walters asked to go to the bathroom and never returned.

His ankle bracelet was found along Cary Parkway.
