UTICA, N.Y. -- A historic church in Utica is celebrating 200 years in the community.

Members of Historic Old St. John's Church on Bleecker Street kicked off the festivities on Wednesday morning.

Historic Old Saint John's the fourth oldest Catholic Church in the state, and is the mother church to many of the parishes in the Mohawk Valley.

The church is multi-generational, and has services in different languages to accommodate Utica's diverse population.

"We've been part of the cornerstone since the beginning of Utica and as Utica now seems to be having a renaissance, we would like to continue that partnership well into the future," said Father John Buehler.

Here are a list of commemorative events coming up:

• Monday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m. -- A choir concert will feature Angela Nassar, organist, and the Historic Old St. John's choir.
