State police are out with new details about the crash that killed Whitesboro Police Officer Kevin Crossley earlier this month.

They say based on witness information, and video evidence, it appears that the officer was pursuing a traffic violator at the time.

Troopers say Officer Crossley made a U-turn on Oriskany Boulevard shortly before striking a vehicle at the intersection of Westmoreland Road.

Crash data showed Crossley's speed at approximately 74 miles per hour in the 40 mile per hour zone.

The patrol vehicle did not have a light bar on top, and state police say there was no evidence that any emergency lights were on, but they say his actions were consistent with a traffic pursuit.

The medical examiner determined that Officer Crossley’s cause of death was multiple traumatic injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The other driver involved in the crash, 26-year-old, Nicole Moshier-Harris suffered only minor injuries. She has now been ticketed for failing to yield the right of way. But state police say no other charges are expected to be filed.
