The nearly $45 million proposal includes an 8.7% tax increase for city tax payers.

That would break down to a more than $70 increase for a home valued at $100,000.

The proposal calls for another detective to the Jefferson County Metro Drug Task Force, Arsenal Street crosswalk improvements, fairground locker room replacement and infrastructure upgrades at city hall.

It's still pretty early in the process. The budget can be changed within the next few weeks. The first meeting to discuss the budget is on Tuesday.
