SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- After a violent weekend in Syracuse, the city's officials are renewing their tough stance on gun violence.

Police are currently investigating two separate homicides. In both cases the victims were shot to death.

On Saturday, 24-year-old Lawrence Moore was killed along Hoefler Street.

Another man died Sunday after being shot in the head inside a house on Cortland Avenue.

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh and Police Chief Frank Fowler addressed those incidents on Sunday. They say they will not be turning a blind eye to the problem.

"To not only make sure that the crimes that happened this weekend are solved quickly and those responsible are held accountable. But we want to be out front of this, we want to send a strong message that gun violence is unacceptable in this community," said Mayor Walsh.

Mayor Walsh and Chief Fowler are asking for any information on either case. They say no matter how small you think a detail may be, it may be very important. You can call Syracuse police at 315-442-5222.
